Software for Project Managers driven by Creative Users
Project Perfect has released version 3.2 of their Project Administrator software. By encouraging users, and trialists to provide feedback, some highly creative functionality has been created. For example, we can now create a risk, and later turn it into an issue if it turns to reality.
Project Managers must be the most creative people on earth. We find all the best ideas come from our customers."
Was the comment from Neville Turbit - principal of Project Perfect.
Over the last twelve months we have spent considerable time talking with people who purchased our software."
Project Administrator is a software tool for Project Managers. It integrates with Microsoft Project and allows the Project Manager to manage all the things not related to the schedule. Things like issues, risks, scope, budgets, action items, checklists, documents, quality, glossary, roles and responsibilities, timesheets etc. It is designed to use only what you need. If all you want is to manage Issues, you can use it that way.
Release 3.1 was a major re-write and was almost there. However when you listen to the people who use it, there are always good ideas that you will never think of in-house.
Probably one of our most useful contacts was a small US firm of architects. They wanted to use the software to manage several hundred short-term design projects. We have exchanged over two-dozen emails looking at how they could merge their business practices with the software. Their ideas spilled over into the software in many ways. For example, it was their requirement to be able to categorize their projects by type that prompted us to build that functionality into release 3.2.
Most companies find people who ask lots of questions before purchasing, a nuisance. If you looked only at the money involved, the US firm was an extremely expensive sale. On the other hand, we love customers like that. It is our best form of product development research."
New Features
The new release of Project Administrator has significant advances in reporting with a number of new reports as well as fine-tuning of existing reports. It also has a new facility to record and monitor risks. There is the facility to record additional details about each project including the type and status. A single report now shows the current status as a series of traffic lights showing performance against six criteria.
