Los Angeles Celebrates Its Amazing Diversity With Storytelling
One day storytelling Festival featuring 25 diverse California tellers sharing their tales and traditons. The Festival will include workshops, concerts, coaching, childten's performances, and storyswaps.
Los Angeles....People everywhere share their hearts and souls through stories. On November 15th, 2003 the 2nd Los Angeles World Storytelling Festival will feature 25 diverse California storytellers sharing their tales and traditions. The performance will range from Celtic folktales to Native American creation myths, from Japanese legends with Taiko drumming to classical East Indian story-dance, from deeply felt personal experiences to outageous lies.
Join the celebration at USC's Davidson Conference Center at 4315 South Figueroa Street (LA 90089) at Jefferson and Figueroa. The Festival begins at 9 am with workshops on storytelling techniques, educational uses, and personal coaching. At 11 am the opening concert leads into an entire day of simultaneous performances and workshops on four stages.African, Hispanic, international and personal tales head up the evening concert at 7 pm. Adults, children, and families are invited to explore stories and tell their own tales at the open story swaps.
Special children's performances with American Sn Language run from 2-4:30 pm. Tickets at the door are $30 for the day and $25 in advance.$10 tickets available for individual events. Angelenos come together as they listen to tellers from a wide variety of cultural background.
