WORDZ & RHYTHMZ AND STRICK CITY STIR UP
AFTER-PARTY POETICS WITH ATLANTA RECORDING ARTISTS, PLATINUM SOULS
BIRMINGHAM, AL - Well-known for organizing classy and positive spoken word floetics with the monthly
Safari Speaks spoken word sets, Wordz & Rhythmz, a performing arts and event promotions organization, makes a comeback as it plans a spoken word and music event targeted to those who may attend the Magic City Classic, but would prefer not to parlay the fun at a nightclub.
Wordz & Rhythmz and Strick City have joined forces to create an unmatchable event designed for every man's consumption-- Speakable Souls: Magic City Classic After-Party Poetics.
This colossal event of the season, which mixes naturally-intoxicating poetry and music in this
proclaimed party-with-a-purpose, will feature Atlanta recording artists, Platinum Souls, a
revolutionary, Christ-centered male and female Gospel Hip-Hop duo made up of Ricardo FLO-For Lord
Only and Ms. Ty Scott, two phenomenal young warriors who are destined to deconstruct and reassemble the face of music with an unprecedented fusion of hip-hop, poetry, and soul
(www.platinumsoulsinc.com). Local radio personalities, Stephen "DJ Strick" Strickland of 95.7 GOSPEL JAMZ and 98.7 KISS FM's Kim Moore "The Nite Bird," will host the event, and spoken word artists Yogi, Julius White and Poetress Lei, comedian Lavell Galloway and Gospel Hip-Hop artist Complçt will also grace the mic.
Strick City (www.StrickCity.com) is an entertainment company founded by DJ Strick that
promotes Gospel Hip-Hop artists such as international recording phenom Big Prophet. The company also coordinates the highly-successful and popular Strick City concerts, which primarily targets Birmingham's urban youth.
As Wordz & Rhythmz returns to the scene to restore positivity and purpose in poetry presentations, it's fulfilling a need that continues to be overlooked by event organizers and promoters.
"Magic City Classic Weekend is one of the biggest event weekends in Birmingham," states Wordz &
Rhythmz founder, LaShanna R. Price, who is also the PR Director for The Music Caterers, the company that manages Just A Few Cats. "While
promoters clamor to put on the hottest party, there are people who wold prefer to simply make a
mellow evening of it all, and they are being left out of the mix. Our goal for Magic City Classic
After-Party Poetics is to fulfill that void by creating an environment conducive for people to relax and enjoy themselves."
The event will be held at the Sardis Family Life Center Theatre, 1615 4th Court West, Birmingham,
AL. Admission is a $5 donation and seating is limited. For event information, contact
