CD of Local Jazz artists to promote Autism/Learning & Development Center: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Dave Nelson, local jazz musician, and father of an autistic child, has pulled together the best local jazz artists into a CD to benefit the Learning & Development Center and Autism. 100% of all proceeds from the CD, entitled "A Cool Cat in a Dog's World" will go to the Learning & Development Center for this purpose. The CD cover features the artwork of Steve Smeltzer, well-known cartoonist. In addition to local jazz artists, the CD features 10-year old jazz pianist Matt Savage, who has autism.
Autism is a disease which is very mysterious, and its effects can be dramatic. Children find it hard to cope with their peers and to adapt to the structured surroundings of school. The Learning & Development Center features programs which work with each child to help them control their behavior and function in everyday life. Unfortunately, this is very expensive and many families cannot afford the 4-5 sessions per week necessary.
This CD, "A Cool Cat in a Dog's World" is the first of a series of CDs featuring artists from different music genres. The first CD features jazz artists, all of whom are well-known in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. All of the artists have donated one of their tracks to the CD, and all proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to aid the Learning & Development Center in its services to autistic patients. The CD will be released November 13, 2003, but can pre-ordered.
You can purchase the CD online through a secure link, by going to www.songbirdpromotions.com. The CD is featured and sold on the HOME page on this website, which promotes local musicians in the Fort Wayne area.
