Recognizes its members:
2003 BPW/NYS State and BPW/USA National Achievers
Councilwoman Dorothy L. Goosby &
Dr. Valerie J. Hackshaw

Councilwoman Dorothy L. Goosby is a member of the Business and Professional Womens Organization/Nassau County. During her hectic schedule and maintaining a family life, she found time to visit all the sister clubs of BPW District X. Based on her outstanding work in the community for the rights of families and the economy of the town, she was nominated for the New York State Federation "Woman of Distinction Award" legislation category. In June of 2003 she was selected by the Federation Committee, and received that award at the NYS Federation Conference held in Rochester NY.
Councilwoman Dorothy L Goosby is the first African American Woman to receive this award.
Presently Councilwoman Goosby has won the Democratic Primary and looks forward to becoming the Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead.

Dr. Valerie J. Hackshaw is member, past president of the Nassau County organization and is presently the elected Assistant Director of BPW/NYS District X, and is Executive Administrator of New Concepts Marketing Group Inc. distributing a Discounted Physicians Health Program an alternative health insurance plan.
Valerie was selected to represent the District in the ID (Individual Development) program speak-off after completing the ID program. She then went on to compete on a state level at the NYS Federation Conference held in Rochester NY. There she won the honor of representation BPW/NYS Federation at the BPW/USA National Convention held in Cleveland Ohio. After competing with other constestants from around the United States, Dr. Hackshaw was declared the -- 2003 National Individual Development Winner.
Dr. Hackshaw is the first African American to win both the BPW/New York State Federation and BPW/USA National Federation IDP speak off in the same year. She now serves as a ID National Representative."

BPW/NYS Nassau County Local Organization and its membership strive to enhance the lives of all women and serve as mentors to our youth.
