Google Alert Greatly Improves Web's Leading Automated Search Service
Users in over 120 countries can now integrate live Google results into their blogs and web sites
TEL AVIV, Israel (PRWEB) October 15, 2003 -- Google Alert, the world's leading automated search and web intelligence solution, today released a greatly improved free web-based service. Selected as BBC's "Website of the Day" and USA Today's "Hot Site", Google Alert enables people from diverse backgrounds worldwide to stay up to date with their interests on the Web. Users include journalists, marketers, lawyers, IT professionals, doctors, salespeople, educators, researchers, and government employees, among many others.
Google Alert's popular free service tracks anything on the web by automatically running daily Google searches and sending email alerts when new results appear.
The new release adds many possibilities for integrating search results into web pages and desktops. Results can now be delivered as email, HTML, RSS 1.0, RSS 2.0 or TrackBack feeds, with a wide variety of customization options. The user experience has been further enhanced by direct links to Google's cached versions of sites, and additional online help and example resources to help users get the most out of the service.
"The popularity of the service has really skyrocketed, with the size of the user base doubling every three months," said Gideon Greenspan, Google Alert's founder. "We've now added some powerful new delivery options to meet the diverse needs of web developers and bloggers."
Google Alert is a free service, offered for non-commercial use and subject to Google's API terms. Google Alert is not affiliated with Google, but uses the Google Web APIs to perform its automated searches.
"The exponential growth we are experiencing clearly proves the commercial potential of this service", said Greenspan. "To that end, we have entered into preliminary negotiations with Google with the goal of offering a premium web tracking service for commercial use."
