Show Business Escapades Book "My Fractured Life" Hits Sales High

E-commerce leader Amazon.com reports 800,000 position sales jump of popular Hollywood novel "My Fractured Life" from author Rikki Lee Travolta. Barnes & Nobel.com data shows shared popularity with author John Grisham.

(October 15, 2003) Sales figures published by Amazon.com as of October 13, 2003 show growth of 801,230 in its official Sales Rank by the Rikki Lee Travolta novel "My Fractured Life," from the same period in the prior month.

Amazon sales records show author Travolta shares popularity with New York Times best selling authors Jeffrey Eugenides ("Middlesex," "The Virgin Suicides") Sue Monk Kidd ("The Secret Life of Bees"), Yan Martel ("Life of Pi") and Bill Bryson ("A Short History of Nearly Everything").

Sales figures at Barnes & Noble.com indicate that the book "My Fractured Life" is a popular title purchased by those customers also buying "The King of Torts" by John Grisham and "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown.

"My Fractured Life" chronicles the friendship of two struggling actors against the sometimes corrupt backdrop of modern Hollywood. Appealing to cross-genre fiction and nonfiction audiences, the book intertwines real celebrities and factual events with fiction narrative.

"Travolta has a great way of looking at Hollywood and the lifestyle of show business," states The Spokesman-Review's Online Book Club. Spokesman Review.com is the on-line edition of Spokane's largest news and information provider in the Inland Northwest United States.

"My Fractured Life" is Travolta's debut novel. His nonfiction work has been published internationally in magazines from media giants Cahners Publishing, CMP Media, Miller Freeman, and James Informational Media. He is the author of the screenplays "Hero Before Dawn" and "Sacred Clone," and the stage plays "Aladdin" and "We Three Kings."

As a performer, Travolta has appeared throughout the world in the comedy "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" and the musicals "West Side Story" and "Bye Bye Birdie."

The longest running stage comedy in history, "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" opened February 14, 1988 in New York City under the production of Joe and Dan Corcoran. Productions have been staged in over 100 cities worldwide including Japan and Australia. Current U.S. productions include Chicago, Detroit, Las Vegas, Maui, Minneapolis, New York, and Philadelphia.

Travolta was initially recruited to boost sales for the Chicago-based production of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" by producers Anthony and Joey Tomaska. Travolta has gone on to appear in productions around the world. Those experiences are reflected in the book "My Fractured Life."

Hailed as the first celebrity guest star in the "Tony n' Tina's Wedding" franchise, Travolta's appearances paved the way for performances by Frankie Avalon of "Grease" fame and Domenica Scorsese.

"With Rikki Lee Travolta, the show is even better," raved television personality Marianne Murciano on FOX Thing in the Morning during a live WFLD-TV broadcast opposite cohost Bob Sirott.

Anthony Tomoska is using the same formula for his upcoming revival of "The Rocky Horror Show" that brought him success with Travolta. For the "Rocky Horror" revival, Tomoska has booked guest appearances by radio personality Mancow Muller and television talk show host Jerry Springer.

"Tony n' Tina's Wedding" will hit the screens as a feature film starring Joey McIntyre (New Kids On the Block) and Mila Kunas (That 70's Show) and directed by Roger Paradiso.

Travolta made "Grease" musical theatre history when he became the first Travolta to appear as Danny Zuko in over 25 years when he agreed to guest star in four performances to raise money to fund fine arts programs for under privileged youths.

The author-actor studied improvisational comedy at Second City in Chicago and is also listed among the Whos Who of Classically Trained Actors by Centerstage.Net; classical credits include title roles in Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet.

Civic minded, Travolta has campaigned for such charities as Broadway Cares, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and Even Start Family Literacy Program. He was profiled by Medill News Service in recognition of his work as an Official Spokesperson for National Dance Week 2003, and previously served as the Literacy Spokesperson for Library Cable Network.

Amazon.com offers Travolta's "My Fractured Life" to International audiences through www. Amazon.com (United States), www.Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom), www.Amazom.de (Germany), www.Amazon.fr (France), www.Amazon.co.jp (Japan), and www.Amazon.ca (Canada).

Distributor Ingram Book Group maintains a National Book Clubs Standing Order Program that supplies selections of the Today Show's "Today Book Club," Good Morning America's "Read This!" program, the USA Today Book Club, and the "Reading with Ripa" light fiction program of Live with Regis and Kelly.
