Systems Of Thought

Ancient African history has it that the ways of life of the continent's great civilisations were shaped by certain 'systems of thought,' with
which societies were full of concern of unconditional equality and fellowship with each other. The citizens lived in harmony and had
unlimited freedom to thought and creativity.

Today, Black Scissors, founded by two Zimbabwean artists, Novell Zwangendaba and Peter Rabvukwa (jr.), quests for this ancient harmony in
which artists and craftsmen are both free to exercise their God-given talent and skills in broadening social invention and innovation.Where
creative way of thinking is not restrictive, where creative liberty is not libertine, where creative and artistic authority is not authoritarian, and where fashion styles and choices for the modern African men are more than 'actes gratuits.'

In its 2003 avante-garde collection, 'Systems Of Thought' the Black Scissors duo have set themselves to examine how creative ways of
thinking or designing can be transformed into socially relevant fashion statements, or into some dynamics between 'systems of individual thought and collectives.'

Black Scissors designers have related to the surrounding environment and have been influenced by it, and in turn seek to influence the output. Thus, in 'Systems Of Thought' the duo articulate and communicate circumstances, both private and public, that they have endured in their creative processes.

The output of this creativity and artistry, is with consciousness, made available for public consumption and diverse interpretations.
