Independent College Counselor Is The Key For Many Students Desiring To Attend A College Of Their Choice

While college counseling staffs are being reduced by budget cuts College Confidence gives applicants a competitive edge

Ventura, California -- A former admissions counselor at UC Santa Barbara is helping many reach their goals to be accepted at their college of choice. College bound students are finding it ever more difficult to be accepted at their favored college. Even with Grade Point Averages above 4.0 many are being turned away. In recent years USC has denied 68% of applicants, Stanford has denied 85% and The Ivy League 82%.

College Confidence founder Sonja Montiel says, students aspiring to attend great schools need help to insure they have an application that presents their skills, attitude, and capabilities in the best possible light. I am committed to the process of working with students and their families, on a one-to-one basis so that each application will portray the true merits of the student."

Her small firm reaches out to the local communities between the San Fernando Valley and Santa Barbara to assist students to discover their own passions in life. Then she finds ways to motivate them to pursue those passions, and to ultimately reveal the potential of those passions on their college applications.

Sonja earned her Master of Arts degree in 1998 in Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara with an emphasis in Educational Leadership and Organizations. She was an admissions counselor there from 1999 to 2002. She is a member of the Western Association of College Admission Counseling (WACAC) and Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). She is also a member of the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC) serving as Co-Chair on the program committee for Ventura County's National College Fair.
