CBMR Software Breaks Data Recovery Speed Records

CBMR (Cristie Bare Machine Recovery) is a new software product that operates in conjunction with IBM Tivoli® Storage Manager (ITSM) to provide a fully automated method of recovering or cloning a Microsoft Windows® operating system to a new HDD or RAID system in under ten minutes. IBM has chosen CBMR to replace Veritas BMR (formerly the Kernel Group) and is reselling CBMR worldwide.

How It Works
CBMR consists of a Windows backup application along with a bootable CDROM containing a customized Linux kernel, minimal filesystem, and tools developed by Cristie to provide the most efficient disaster recovery solution available. The software is designed to maximise speed, flexibility and simplicity of use. Essential user interaction is kept to a minimum but many powerful options exist to allow the expert user full control. All tools and utilities are loaded into a virtual disk contained in memory for greatest efficiency.
CBMR will partition, format and restore files to any number of new or existing IDE, SCSI, or hardware RAID disks, of similar or different sizes. Files are restored using Cristie's purpose-built fast restoring software (lirest), which integrates seamlessly with ITSM and can also use tape or virtual tape devices.
The intuitive user interface is designed primarily with speed in mind and a typical recovery will take as little as 5 keystrokes.

The product is available as a part of the IBM Developer Sales Channel Software Remarketing program or direct from Cristie Data Products Limited. CBMR is available in English, French and German languages. The Linux mode recovery is available only in English.
