FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Universal Nutrition and Americas Walk for Diabetes Team Up

On October 19, 2003 - Universal Nutrition, a New Jersey based health nutrition manufacturer, was an active participant of the America's Walk for Diabetes. Represented by eleven corporate walkers, Team Universal completed a six mile walk and earned a star-walker status. Universal participated in the Walk to raise money and to contibute funds to find a cure for this serious disease.

On October 19, 2003 -- Universal Nutrition, a New Jersey based health nutrition manufacturer, was an active participant of the Americas Walk for Diabetes in Princeton, New Jersey. Represented by eleven corporate walkers, Team Universal completed a six-mile walk and earned a star-walker status.

More than five hundred walkers filled the streets of Princeton at 10:00 AM on a chilly Sunday morning. People participating in the Walk represented almost every age group and nationality. Many walkers came with their families and friends. Every two miles, people stopped at checkpoints for refreshments, food and to check their blood sugar levels. The six-mile walk took approximately two hours to complete and Team Universal was greeted with a gift bag, a free lunch, and a raffle at the finish line.

After asthma, diabetes is the second most common disease that affects children in the United States. According to the American Diabetes Association, approximately 17 million Americans have diabetes and almost 5.9 million are unaware that they have the disease. Diabetes has severe consequences such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, amputation, and vision impairment.

Universal Nutrition participated in the Americas Walk for Diabetes to raise money and to contribute funds to find a cure.
