ABC chose the local event which will prove to be quite a spectacle.

Diane Sawyer will cover the event which will actually be two weddings in one. The wedding, to be held at the Pasadena Museum of California Art, will include a Hindu ceremony, to which the Groom will arrive by Asian Elephant, and will be followed by a traditional Western ceremony. The dinner will be a traditional Indian meal served family style.

Hindu tradition dictates that the groom be brought to the mother of the bride by elephant to ask her permission for the nuptials. He is accompanied by his family as well as two dancers who will lead the way. Once permission is granted, the grooms family is invited into the ceremony site which includes an area replete with pillows, a Sitar player and a traditional, floral mandap -- a naturalistic structure built to contain the bride and groom during their vows. A traditional fire ceremony is also part of the festivities.

Next, the bride and groom will don their Western, or American, clothes and retire indoors for the Protestant ceremony the site for which will be a surprise for the guests.
