Small College Robert Morris Springfield and Rhema Bible College to play NABL Missouri Hawks and Kansas City Steers in 2003 NABL ST JOSEPH SHOOTOUT at Missouri Western State College October 31-November 1
THe NABL will be holding the 2003 NABL Shootout for two college and two AAU Elite mens basketball teams from the NABL. St. Joseph is a famous AAU site and the NABL is hoping to rekindle interest in club basketball there.
It will be the battle of two top USCAA small college teams and two upstart NABL teams as the NABL (National Alliance of Basketball Leagues) stages a hoop festival at Missouri Western State College October 31 and November 1.
The NABL is coming to St. Joseph to celebrate the large part of AAU basketball history that was made in St. Joseph in the 1900s. The 1926 Hillyard Paints team won the AAU National Championship in Kansas City and then repeated as national Champion in 1927 in Kansas City.
Today, we celebrate those teams with the Missouri Hawks, from nearby Maryville and the historic Kansas City Steers, themselves the 1962-3 ABL Champions.
USCAA small college powers Robert Morris Springfield and Rhema Bible College complete the field. Heres the schedule of games, which will take place at the Missouri Western State College gym:
Friday, October 31 6pm Robert Morris Springfield vs. Kansas City Steers; 7:30pm Rhema Bible College vs. Missouri Hawks
Saturday, November 1 Noon Robert Morris College vs. Rhema Bible College; 1:30pm Kansas City Steers vs. Missouri Hawks.
