Input Solutions, Inc. successfully completes document conversion and CD-ROM project for Exelon

Exelon wanted to file an Early Site Permit application with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Input Solutions worked closely with Exelon for over 6 months on an extensive and difficult document conversion and CD-ROM production project. Input was required to convert hardcopy, engineering drawings and electronic documents to Acrobat PDF files and build a CD with over 10,000 links and bookmarks.

Input Solutions, Inc. (Input) was proud to be chosen as the conversion service bureau contracted to assist Exelon in the important undertaking described below.

Exelons Early Site Permit application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) was a complex and extensive project. Input Solutions was contracted to convert, organize, build navigation, create and check links and design the final CD-ROM product to be delivered to the NRC. In addition to Exelons high quality standards, Input had to keep an eye on the NRC requirements for application submissions on CD. If all the above was not complex enough, the timeframes were very tight. Working in close coordination over a period of 6 months, employees of both companies coordinated all the details required to make the project successful.

The project required conversion of documents, drawings and other data into Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Input Solutions position as an Adobe AASP (Adobe Authorized Service Provider) was one of the keys to being selected by Exelon. Inputs experience converting over 10 million hardcopy, microfilm and existing electronic files to PDF was also a plus. Input utilized our in-house developed global bookmarking to maximize ease-of-use considerations. Inputs staff created and checked over ten thousand inter- and intra-document links and bookmarks to facilitate navigation throughout the application.

Input was also able to demonstrate over 100 other successful projects delivered on CD. Many of these were done for trade and membership associations annual meetings, also with tight timeframes and delivery deadlines without any flexibility.

Throughout the project it was known there would be a flurry of activity at the very end -- and there was. Exelon employees were at the Input Solutions headquarters in Gaithersburg MD the morning the project was due to be delivered. All the final revisions were made, CDs were produced and Exelon delivered them to the NRC the same afternoon.

The next day, one of the members of the Exelon team wrote to John R. Solomon, Input Solutions President, It was enjoyable to be dealing with a professional team that was flexible enough to meet our schedule".

A new and different project between Exelon and Input Solutions is already in the planning stages.
