MOONWALK INTO THE WORLD OF BUSINESS

IIPMS FIRST BATCH COMMENCES IN PUNE
What would you find at a freshers welcome gathering of a revered MBA college?

A dreary sermon in a somber auditorium?

Probably no, when it comes to an institution known for its pioneering spirit and an academic movement behind it.

The Indian Institute of Planning & Management, one of Indias largest and most respected buniness school, broke one more paradigm by organizing 'Moonwalk -- a sumptuous freshers welcome party for the first batch of its Pune centre. With pulsating ambience, flashing lights and foot tapping music, began the freshers party with a difference. The excitement augmented to a joyful high when the Professors themselves joined the festivities with students on the dance floor. And as the mercury began to rise, the dance floor was left open for some unbridled exuberance. The celebrations marked 30 glorious years of IIPMs academic excellence in the field of management education.
Moonwalk" preceded the grand cultural festival AAGAMAN", to commemorate the inception of a new genre of business minds. The event was held at Aurora Towers pool side lawns on September 17, 2003. It provided the students with a constructive platform to unwind and know each other. It was time for a formal welcome to the first ever batch of MBA & BBA students of IIPM-Pune. The festival incorporated competitions in debating, corporate quiz, JAM, flip-back, dumb charades, best manager, ad zap, collage-making and antakshari. This was followed by the much applauded performances in singing, dancing, skit, mimicry, fashion show and the rock show. The program was entirely organized and presented by the students.

Said Prof. Shailendra Pathak, dean IIPM Pune, "where IIPM teaches about 150% of normal MBA curriculum anywhere in the world, it also enthuses a sense of exuberance amongst its students..."

IIPM made news recently when it got selected by United Nations Development Program as its key partner institution in India and got nominated by World Bank Institute to be on its steering committee. IIPM was also in news when it surpassed the performance of five of the IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) to be ranked second in Business Barons: India's Best B-Schools survey (June 2003), in the Industry Interface index.
