[October 24, 2003 - Calgary, AB]
Wes Baker, Founder of The CanadaRun Association (A CCRA Registered Charity), will be running through Calgary on October 27th and 28th as part of his Cross-Canada journey that began almost 4 months, and over 4000 kms, ago. His mission is to run from Halifax to Victoria to raise money for financially over-burdened post-secondary students in the wake of recent tuition increases.
Baker, a 4th year University of Victoria student, will make himself available on those two days for interviews with the local Calgary media. He is available to speak on a wide range of topics: From his charity and the effect he hopes it will have on students, to the state of tuition fees in this country, to the condition of the roads in this country and the logistics involved in such a journey, Wes is a charismatic young leader with an inspiring story to tell.
The CanadaRun Association is a CCRA Registered Charity dedicated to providing innovative students with post-secondary scholarships. The Association provides endowments to students from all walks of life, studying in all disciplines that have experienced financial hardships as a result of the recent wave of tuition increases across this country. Every post-secondary student in Canada is eligible to apply for CanadaRun scholarships. The amount of funds available will be directly related to the amount of funds raised by the Association.
