Warner Bros. back down over battle for The Matrix

A British man expressed his relief this week as global giant Warner Bros. Entertainment, creators of the huge box office phenomenon The Matrix, made a decision to drop the threat of legal action against him, and instead offered to settle the dispute out of court.

(PRWEB) October 25, 2003 --A British man expressed his relief this week as global giant Warner Bros. Entertainment, creators of the huge box office phenomenon The Matrix, made a decision to drop the threat of legal action against him, and instead offered to settle the dispute out of court.

With the final episode of The Matrix trilogy scheduled for cinema release 5th November 2003, the matter was understandably tagged as a high profile" case according to London solicitors Addleshaw Goddard, acting on instruction from Warner Bros. Mr Steev Jordan from Ringwood, Hampshire, registered the domain name thematrix.co.uk back in May this year.

I must admit, I was a little surprised when I realised the domain name was available. But when I did finally receive confirmation from Nominet that I was the legal owner of the domain, I was over the moon."

The AOL Time Warner Company contacted Mr Jordan just weeks after the domain names registration and expressed their vested interest in the domain name. A subsequent letter to Mr Jordan concluded in the threat of a very costly legal battle.

Everyone I spoke to about the domain wanted to know how much I was going to sell it for. It was like I was holding a winning lottery ticket and people were genuinely excited for me. I also had a number of legal representatives willing to take on the case for me on a 'no win, no fee basis. I guess its not every day you get to do legal battle with the worlds biggest entertainment group. However as I openly expressed to them, I did not register thematrix.co.uk to extort money from Warner Bros.; I have very legitimate plans for it."

Since the dawn of the World Wide Web there have been numerous similar domain disputes involving large corporations such as Marks and Spencer, British Telecom, Sun Microsystems and Toys 'R Us. In the majority of cases, the accusers are successful in retrieving their domain name, however it is not yet clear why Warner Bros. made the decision to drop their claim.

From what I can see, Im sure its not down to a lack of funds! I guess the guys at Warner Bros. understood from my response that my intentions are indeed genuine. Personally I have a great deal of respect for them; they make great movies and produce some of my favourite music artists, so it is encouraging to know that they are not just another big-name corporation throwing their weight around to get what they want. They have obviously looked at the issue from both sides and have amicably backed down."

Mr Jordan suggests that the actual web site being developed for www.thematrix.co.uk is far more controversial than the name itself. The full title of the site is 'The Matrix of Life Exposed, and sets out to 'expose the wrong assumptions and misunderstandings about the origins of life through the indoctrination of evolution. Raid Media, the non-profit making organisation that runs the site, consists of an IT Manager, Company Director, Computer Programmer and a Teacher.

It all started after we shared our concerns that the public are being grossly misled by the so-called authorities into believing that evolution is a 'factual mechanism for the origin of life. Having spent many years researching the issue myself, it became clear just how effective this deceptive paradigm had become. The battle between evolution and creation has raged on for decades, largely due to the way the media heavily favour the former, but its not until you are faced with both sides of the debate that you realise just how inferior and flawed evolutionary theories are.

Using purely credible scientific reasoning, with the same evidence as evolutionists, our web site aims to expose those weaknesses and give people the opportunity to make up their own minds. We are confident that those who are open minded will be shocked, appalled and yet liberated by what they read."
