IHS ANNOUNCES MAJOR PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS TO SPECS & STANDARDS

DENVER, COLORADO (PRWEB) October 24, 2003 - Information Handling Services Inc. (IHS) announces major product enhancements to their Specs & Standards service with the release of version 3.0. This comprehensive internet-based service provides access to a million industry, national, international, corporate, and U.S. military/government specifications and standards documents as well as related publications. The improved Specs & Standards interface offers more powerful searching and tools that enable users to manage and monitor document usage and cross-reference related documents within an IHS subscription.

New capabilities now available to customers in this release include full-text searching and Personal Document Lists. Specs & Standards v3.0 exclusively allows searching within the full-text of the indexed publications in addition to titles and abstracts. Full-text searching enables users to isolate an exact portion of text and identify all documents associated with a specific search term. The search technology, powered by Endeca ProFind, also now supports many new search fields and the ability to refine initial queries with additional criteria. New Personal Document Lists permits users to create custom secure document lists for the purpose of update notification and compliance management. Now one user, or an entire working group, can be notified by e-mail or through the application whenever one of their selected documents revises. In addition, by using the lists to specify exactly which documents and revisions should be used on a particular project, users can ensure compliance to internal and external requirements.

Specs & Standards is used by government and commercial industries to research and acquire information needed for critical work processes, design, testing, and equipment maintenance.
