New Book Gives Eye Opening, Behind the Scenes Details of the Elizabeth Smart Search Effort

You saw it on the nightly news. You read it in the newspapers. Now get inside the story of the search for Elizabeth Smart. Ten Days in Utah; The Search for Elizabeth Smart, is a first person account by Andrew McGregor, the Incident Commander for the largest search operation in the history of America. Accompany him behind closed doors and learn about the details involved in organizing and conducting this massive volunteer effort. This book will give you a one-of-a-kind understanding of what happened and helpful information to avoid a similar tragedy from befalling your own children.

When Andrew McGregor found himself appointed as the Incident Commander for the Elizabeth Smart search mission, he didnt realize that this search would be of history-making proportions. A miraculous fourteen thousand civilians volunteered in the search effort that was organized by McGregor and the Abby-Jennifer Recovery Foundation, and other volunteer organizations.

Despite McGregors vast experience in Search and Rescue, the Smart case amazed even him. "As an active Incident Commander with the search and rescue teams in the Colorado Rockies, I thought I had just about seen and done everything. I was awed at the response from the community...This was history in the making!" McGregor relates in his new book, Ten Days in Utah; The Search for Elizabeth Smart.

McGregor gives readers an up-close look at what went on behind the scenes of the largest search and rescue operation in the history of the state of Utah. Listen as McGregor shares the emotional impact of each day that passes without finding Elizabeth, and the details of what happened during those ten days that his team spent searching for Americas most wanted child.

McGregor interjects moments of personal reflection into his account, I have always loved Sunday mornings, the pitter-patter of little feet bouncing down the stairs, pile-ups on the family room floor, Elvis reruns with dress up and sing-alongs. I knew those joyful sounds would not be heard at the Smart family home this morning, and I drove a little faster."

Salt Lake City will remember McGregors applause raising comment on the Larry King Live Show when he stated the truism: "A strike against the Smarts, is a strike against us all."

The Abby-Jennifer Recovery Foundation was formed to organize large-scale search parties for missing children after the search for Abby and Jennifer Blagg in Grand Junction, Colorado. Other agencies have followed suit and have begun to develop the ability to conduct searches using civilian volunteers. This book is a tribute to all those who helped search for Elizabeth Smart and to all the volunteers who have helped search for other missing children across America.

If you are seeking closure to the kidnapping case that confounded the nation, if you are a parent wanting to prevent a similar tragedy from happening to your own family, if you have ever been a volunteer in a search and rescue operation, you need to read, Ten Days in Utah; The Search for Elizabeth Smart by Andrew McGregor, available from American Book Publishing, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Andrew McGregor will be involved in upcoming fund-raising events for the Abby-Jennifer Recovery Foundation in Grand Junction, Colorado and with the ARES and Kid-safe teams in Pueblo, Colorado in the weeks ahead. He and second in command, Jeremy Utter, will also be visiting SLC in November to conduct book signings and give recognition to the outstanding volunteers who helped search for Elizabeth Smart.
