HOTEL DATA SYSTEMS PARTNERS WITH IBM FOR
GLOBAL NETWORK AND SYSTEMS SUPPORT
HDS Leverages IBMs Global Technology and Infrastructure in Operating its New ASP Based Magellan Reservation Services
WESTPORT, CT (PRWEB) October 29, 2003 -- Hotel Data Systems, Inc. (HDS) announced today that it had selected IBM as its hosting and global network infrastructure support for its newly established business unit, Magellan Reservation Services. Magellans ASP Reservation Services will be hosted on IBM support hardware, software and network topology.
By partnering with IBM, HDSs Magellan Reservation Services unit reinforced its ASP infrastructure as it relates to its E-nterprise Reservation System and equipment. This agreement ensures that HDS's Central Reservations System will remain connected to a high performance, dedicated and secure network at all times with IBM equipment maintained and supported through any situation.
As a result of using IBM to provide the technology platforms and network infrastructure, Magellan will provide customers with IBM's security-rich, reliable, scalable infrastructure, offering comprehensive system management, ongoing support, and access to IBM's many other services.
Unlike other hosting services which only offer rack space or co-location services, IBM hosting is continuously available and totally scalable for spikes in demand and future customer growth. The Magellan Reservation Services platform has been optimized to take full advantage of IBMs award-winning Netfinity servers.
IBM's expertise in performance engineering creates a balanced system that operates consistently well across multiple application environments to combine Web, database, and application servers. These were all critical success factors for HDS as the Magellan Reservation Services scales for growth based on customer interest and demand.
Customer data information, such as financial and personal information, needs to be protected at all cost. IBMs ASP hosting services ensures the highest level of security through dedicated servers, IBM Level One firewalls and 128-bit encryption to protect against hackers. Also, IBMs full time intrusion detection monitoring provides Magellan customer with additional peace of mind.
"With the tremendous interest generated and the growth that we experienced, since announcing the availability of an ASP solution, we felt it was important to ensure that our systems were secure. With enormous amounts of data to be secured, and in some cases the mission critical environment that the CRS assumes, we felt that it was better to invest in the best possible technology platform reinforced by a preeminent global technology vendor such as IBM. In addition IBM offers our clients high-speed communications, leveraging connectivity through a worldwide network offering VPN services, and through static IP addresses. With the redundancy offered, our clients are assured of the maximum uptime," stated Mr. Paul Firos, President of Hotel Data Systems, Inc.
