LONG ISLANDER WRITES DETECTIVE MYSTERY
Available at Amazon.com, b&n.com etc., and select bookstores and libraries.

Former Long Islander and Setauket resident Maria Murdock (now Maria Pease) has just released her first title of five in a series of detective mysteries.

Born and raised in Setauket, Maria is a graduate of Ward Melville H.S, class of 1980. Long Island was a great place to grow up. I loved riding my bike to the beach and around Setauket and Stony Brook as well as sailing with my parents and six brothers and sisters. Ice skating on the pond and sledding at St. Georges golf club was always a lot of Fun."

UNDER FALSE PRETENSE is about an amateur detective who is honest and clever. Her ambitious nature outweighs her lack of experience. Although she is technically a paralegal, she specializes in research and does a bit of snooping as well. Somehow, she seems to find herself in trouble on a regular basis, due to her intolerance for unfairness and injustice. Basically though, she just gets too engrossed in things she has no business being involved in, and will freely admit, she doesnt know her boundaries.

Samantha Parker is a very likable character. She is fun and witty and has a few quirks that everyone can relate to and laugh at. As you read, you feel like you know her. She becomes your friend."

Maria Pease is also a paralegal but her love of children has her working as a substitute teacher at Paloma Elementary school. I love the kids and working as a substitute teacher allows me time to write as well as teach. Education is so important and making it fun to learn is what I try to do in the classroom. I also try to encourage them to dream and dream big. Anything is possible if you work for it."
