Got Hairloss? We speak to Nanogen to find out about their new patented product 'Nanoguard'

So we know that increased levels of scalp DHT increases hair loss in men and women - but taking a medication to reduce levels is banned for women and can cause serious side-effects in more men than the manufacturers like to admit. So what are your options? Naturally the company behind Nanoguard and Nanogen (Pangaea Direct Ltd.) is shy about using words such as hair-regrowth as their products are cosmoceuticals not pharmaceuticals, but if you read between the lines, it seems they may be onto something and they have just received their US patent!! - read on.....

Nanogen (PRWEB) October 30, 2003 -awaited new-patented shampoo to alleviate excessive hair loss, called Nanoguard.

Nanoguard has spent several years in development and has been shown to reduce local scalp levels of DHT converted from Testosterone by 5-alpha reductase. DHT is universally known to exacerbate hair loss in persons (male and female) suffering from Male Pattern Baldness.

Most modern anti-hairloss products including the best selling hair loss medicine act to reduce the conversion of Testosterone to DHT. Naturally, a product taken orally will have effects all over the body (known as systemic effects) whereas a shampoo with a similar mechanism of action can work primarily at the local site of administration -- that is the scalp. The chance of systemic side-effects is thus substantially reduced, meaning that Women as well as Men can use the Nanoguard formula whereas only Men can use oral medications which reduce DHT -- such as Propecia.

The makers of Nanoguard (Pangaea Direct Ltd. -- http://www.pangaeadirect.com) claim that the 'root defense shampoo system, as Nanoguard is sometimes referred to, can be used alongside other hair loss treatments such as Minoxidil for example.

A spokesperson for Nanogen, Russell Scheef, has indicated that the users of this product will be both men and women since although the problem of hairloss does pervade itself mainly in males, the distress and lack of alternatives for women means Nanoguard will be a big seller. Already we have have huge numbers of pre-orders by our valued retailer network.

Nanogen, approved and endorsed by the UK Alopecia Society, has over the last 3 years emerged to become Europes leading hair loss product manufacturer and is the company behind Nanofibres, the keratin microfibre cover-up which has taken the market by storm.
