FROM HOUSEWIFE TO HIT MAKER!
This time last year, UK based Jane was a very average housewife and mother of three ... who just happened to write great songs.
Now in her thirties, Jane had long since given up any hope of 'making it' in the music business. As a single parent with a young family , she'd abandoned her dreams and returned to university to study for a degree (a BSc in Applied psychology), in order for her to get a 'proper job and support her children.
Fast forward ten years and Jane is now married and settled. In 2001, a friend heard her songs and suggested she upload her demo's which have been gathering dust for ages, onto the Internet. They made a couple of songs available at www.mp3.com, an internet based music website which specialises in hosting music by independent artists.
Within weeks, more than 6000 people downloaded her songs. Jane received dozens of emails from people all over the world asking if there was an album available. The trickle of emails quickly became a steady stream until she'd received thousands of requests for more material and information.
The result of Jane's labours in the recording studio is her self released debut album CLOSE UP AND REAL which, despite not having record company backing, is receiving great reviews from the music media, press and most importantly, customers.
The response to Jane's music has been achieved WITHOUT any marketing campaign, any advertising or any PR hype. How many artists can say that these days? People seem to warm to her story as it's so heartening in these cynical times... it's the type of 'feelgood' David and Goliath tales it's good to hear about!
Jane says: " Im delighted and astonished by the response Ive had. Id long since given up any hope of doing anything with my music. Lets face it, Im a thirty something mother of three, hardly 'rock star material, yet it doesnt seem to matter. In the current climate of an image dominated music industry I never believed I would stand a chance, yet given the choice, people really dont seem to care that much about age, looks or status. They just like the songs and its brilliant...its exactly what music should be about."
