The new Microlink 770 data acquisition unit monitors monitors 16 channels of strain, temperature, pressure, voltage or current at up to 100 readings per second. The Microlink is ideal for transient capture and portable applications such as in-vehicle testing. The compact unit connects to a PC over USB and costs just £795 ($1350 US or 1145 Euro).

Biodata are pleased to announce their new Microlink 770 data acquisition unit. It monitors 16 channels of strain, temperature, pressure, voltage or current at up to 100 readings per second.

The Microlink is ideal for transient capture and portable applications such as in-vehicle testing. The compact unit connects to a PC over USB and costs just £795 ($1350 US or 1145 Euro).

The plug-and-play Microlink comes with the Windmill ready-to-run software suite for Windows, which makes the device very easy to use. It has many data capture options. For example, the 770 will start collecting data

  • on a button press in software
  • when it receives a digital trigger from other equipment
  • when 1 or 2 input signals cross a pre-determined threshold, for example, when a temperature goes above or below a set point.

The Microlink can save data before and after an event occurs (pre- and post-trigger data). This is useful for seeing exactly what happened before a fault occurred. The 770 can also automatically switch on other machinery simultaneously with data capture.

With 16-bit analogue-to-digital conversion, the Microlink gives high resolution readings. Independent input ranges let you mix the different types of measurements without losing that resolution.

The Windmill Streamer software captures the data to disk and saves it in a choice of formats, including ASCII and binary. Users can therefore analyse the data in the Windows program of their choice, such as Excel. Streamer also charts and tabulates data in real-time.

The Microlink is extremely quick to install and easy to use. However, should users have any problems Biodata provide free technical support for life.
