TV over ADSL without distance limitation

Television, video on demand, chat, interactive games... Internet applications need more and more bandwidth. Through their collaboration, Ifotec and Avilinks can offer a complete solution for high quality multimedia services up to 20 miles from the DSLAM.

(PRWEB) October 31, 2003 --Television, video on demand (VoD), chat, interactive games... Internet applications need more and more bandwidth.

To meet this demand Avilinks has developed a new DSLAM specifically designed for multimedia. It enables 7 Mbits of bandwidth to be transmitted up to 2 miles.

Ifotec offers a system that extends DSLAM signals over 20 miles of optical fibre. This system enables the transmission of TV over ADSL or Broadband Internet in remote areas. Through their collaboration, Ifotec and Avilinks can offer a complete solution for high quality multimedia services up to 20 miles from the DSLAM. Both companies demonstrated the interoperability of their products at ITU Telecom World in Geneva.
"Complementary to our new equipment, which was launched at ITU Geneva and features highly flexible configurations with a limited number of ports, Ifotecs solution eliminates the problem of limited access to broadband for rural and remote areas. Local authorities now have simple and elegant solutions to meet the public demand", says Christian Crickx, CTO of Avilinks. "It was surprising to see how easy it was to connect our systems. Moreover we demonstrated that a subscriber located more than 20 miles away can have the same broadband services as available in the center of town: it is a real contribution to the reduction of the digital divide that both our companies show here", says Gilles Billet, CEO of IFOTEC.
