Orchestria and IMlogic Offer an Alternative to Banning Instant Messenger (IM) Use with Technology Integration

Companies in the finance, banking, insurance and healthcare markets that may put themselves at risk by allowing employees to use unregulated Instant Messaging will have a viable alternative to banning IM use with a new technology partnership between Orchestria and IMlogic.

Companies in the finance, banking, insurance and healthcare markets that may put themselves at risk by allowing employees to use unregulated Instant Messaging will have a viable alternative to banning IM use with a new technology partnership between Orchestria and IMlogic.

The partnership, effective from today, is based on technology integration between Orchestrias Active Policy Management (APM) software that provides real-time visibility and control for email, theWeb and Instant Messenging with IMlogics server-based IM Manager.

As a fast-growing communications medium, IM presents a challenge to regulated industries such as finance, banking, insurance, healthcare, government and telecommunications with many US organizations struggling to control IM and other electronic communications in the face of increased legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Corporate Responsibility Act (SOX) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as well as regulations from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).

Orchestrias Active Policy Management solution or APM, enables businesses to monitor, control, archive and audit unstructured" communications, such as those sent and received by email, the Web and Instant Messaging and to retain copies of these in accordance with corporate and regulatory retention policies, based upon the communications actual content.

The combined solution unites Orchestria APMs unique ability to review electronic communications in real-time and to intervene before any wrongful communication occurs, with IMlogics distinctive server-based management of IM.

Orchestrias CEO, Pete Malcolm said, A dangerous gap has opened up in the way business is conducted, leaving organizations highly susceptible to legal proceedings, regulators fines and even cessation of business. This gap is due to conflicting trends; the increased corporate use of e-mail, the Web and instant messaging on one hand, and the trend towards stricter regulation of industry on the other. We help businesses to close this gap and our new partnership with IMlogic will allow us to further extend our IM capabilities, offering an unprecedented - and much needed -level of real-time control of IM communications."

Francis deSouza, President and CEO of IMlogic said, IMs popularity as a business and personal means of communication is undisputed, but management of IM has historically presented compliance managers and executives with a problem. Our technology, integrated with Orchestrias APM, is a unique proposition to the market as it offers real-time monitoring and control of IM."
