Local Music Group to be part of Bob Hope Memorial USO Tour
Maryland artists, No Illusion, announce news of International Holiday Tour
Gaithersburg, MD -- October, 2003 -- No Illusion, an Urban Pop group based out of Gaithersburg, MD, spent their observance of Columbus Day telling fans that theyll be honoring another legendary pioneer, recently departed comedian and entertainer, Bob Hope. Called the "Hope and Freedom Tour," Lumi, Tanika and Elaine, the three artists of No Illusion, will be stopping at multiple installations overseas as well as remote locations where troops are serving. The December tour will feature multiple acts in addition to No Illusion. Past entertainers have included Rocker Joan Jett, Actor Bruce Willis, Comedian Drew Carey, and Governor-Elect Arnold Schwarzenegger.
After spending the last few months performing USO shows along the East Coast for returning, departing and wounded soldiers serving overseas, No Illusion will now sing their song to soldiers at bases all over the Middle East region as part of a tour in honor of Mr. Hope.
A group from the nations capital, the tour gives the ladies an opportunity to do what they take pride in; representing Washington, D.C. "Weve revamped our entire show especially for this tour," stated Lumi, at the 'Taste of DC festival on Monday where the ladies performed and announced the news. "We want to make sure that those who will watch us will get the best of what we have to offer," added Elaine.
No Illusion recently took home the "Best Female R&B/Soul Group" at the Urban Independent Music Awards two weeks ago. With performances at Camden Yards, MCI Center, and an upcoming performance at the Pentagon, its no illusion that this diverse trio of talented ladies receive incredible fan support and have also managed to create a huge buzz around the D.C. area. Although their schedule seems full, the ladies are always looking to bring smiles to faces of their fans and troops.
"We go into our USO shows with the intent to inspire the troops and give them a touch of home," said Tanika, "but it seems that we are the ones leaving our performances feeling inspired by them."
