Partners leverage EzThin solutions to give non-profits a much needed technology boost.

The Tools for Tomorrow program provides resources for schools, community centers and other non-profits to upgrade technology while reducing their maintenance costs. Participants are provided with software resources and additional functionality which previously was not available.

(PRWEB) October 31, 2003 --Class101, Gateway, Lumen Software and the Inland Northwest Technology Education Center (INTEC) are excited to announce the launch of the Tools for Tomorrow Program aimed to increase local access to technology.

The program is intended to match corporate sponsors with community organizations and schools that would benefit from a technology upgrade. The program leverages EzThin Server Technology, a state of the art solution that harnesses the power of Linux into a bundle that is both easy to install into the existing infrastructure and nearly effortless to maintain.

Spokane's West Central Community Center was the first benefactor of the program through a direct sponsorship through INTEC. As a result of the program they were able to upgrade their existing lab of 10 computers as well as provide secure storage areas with remote access to each of their visitors. By accessing this server remotely, people are able to not only get access to their documents and files but also to all the applications that are available at the community center itself.

With EzThin the possibilities are endless. Primarily for the participants, I see the need to maintain that link to technology access as vital part of improving or maintaining their quality of life. Technology provides an increase in availability of communication with family as well as other important people that can assist them with increasing the quality of their familys life. With the 'Virtual Desktop' being accessible from any computer connected to the Internet, it can roam" with the participant. This feature can greatly increase their ability to stay focused and organized when going to school, looking for jobs, managing a small business, and working on personal projects. Many of our participants move about neighborhoods, and most primary neighborhoods in Spokane have a Community Technology Center that can provide them with access to computers and the Internet. With the many projects the youth in the community will be involved in, I see this as putting those that have access to EzThin ahead of the 'game'

-Heather Jackson, Computer Center Coordinator

EzThin is a pre-configured software solution, including an office suite, edutainment and other software bundled on a Linux based server. This plug-and-play solution allows older machines to be upgraded to todays standards while also facilitating remote access capabilities.

INTEC is a unique non-profit organization facilitating collaboration between education, government and business to enable workforce development and the creation of an Innovation Economy.

Class101 is a Spokane based company focused on providing innovative educational solutions that provide opportunities for people of all ages to integrate technology into their everyday lives.
