The Village at Sullivan Trail Assisted Living in Easton, Pa. Recognize Care-givers.

The Village at Sullivan Trail Assisted Living Facility in Easton Pennsylvania recognizes staff members.

The Village at Sullivan Trail Assisted Living staff members averted the deaths of two residents. Melanie Riley and Tracey George responded immediately to the asphixiation of Albert Buckl and Anna Weidman respectively. Albert Buckl was saved from choking on a pill at breakfast by the quick work of Melanie Riley when she performed the Heimlich Maneuver. Anna Weidman was choking on mashed potatoes when Tracey George stepped in to administer the Heimlich Maneuver. In both instances the rescue efforts were successful in saving the lives of these senior citizens.

When asked about the incident Tracey said, "It's all part of my job. I'm just glad that I was able to help Anna." Melanie Riley and Tracey George are being recognized for the quick and heroic actions.

Susan May, vice-president of marketing and research, commented, "We are all so thankful for the quick reaction time of these girls. We are also very thankful for Tom Rothrock of the Red Cross, our CPR instructor who is very efficient in training our staff on the proper life-saving techniques." Mr. Rothrock comes in to the Village at Sullivan Trail periodically throughout the year to update all staff on the correct procedures of first aid administration, as well as how to correctly perform the Heimlich Maneuver.
