Browse Control v1.4 released - Internet Access Control and Application Blocking now in one convenient, easy to use and cheap utility!

Browse Control v1.4 now blocks KaZaA, chat, messenger programs, games or any other application that causes loss of productivity or is unauthorised in your organisation

England, UK (PRWEB) November 1, 2003 --Codework Limited today announced an enhancement of its internet access control software, Browse Control, with the addition of an Application Blocking feature that allows organisations to specify a Black List" of Applications which users will be blocked from launching on their client PCs.

Aimed at preventing employees from running time-wasting software such as Kazaa, MSN, games, etc., Browse Control will trap the launch of any application which is specified on the Browse Control AppBlocker list. A corporate message can also be displayed when any attempt is made by a user to run a blacklisted application. The Browse Control Application blocker will also benefit schools, where it can restrict students from launching unauthorized applications (such as games) during class.

As Browse Control traps applications by using the internal windows name of each software, users re-naming .exe files will fail in their attempt to by-pass the Browse Control software.

A free trial copy of the new release is available from:

Simply preventing access to specific ports will be pointless against Peer-to-Peer file sharing software such as Kazaa which port hop to search for available ports" says Su Pabari, Browse Control product manager. Browse Control provides a total blocking solution against this type of application and indeed against any software which becomes a nuisance to employers"

About Browse Control
Browse Control helps you restrict inappropriate surfing and enforce Internet usage policies in your organisation. Browse Control can: completely block Internet, allow access only to Web sites you specify, schedule Internet ON at only certain times of day.

The new Application Blocker functionality can now allow you to enforce the policy of preventing ANY type of applications from being run by users. From Solitaire to KaZaa, the running of any .exe file can be prevented by simply including the name of the application on the Browse Control Blocked Applications List.

The combination of Internet Access Control and Application Blocking will give organisations benefits such as improved employee productivity, reduced bandwidth waste and improved network security.
