KUA Receives Community Service Award
FMEA presented to KUA its 2003 Florida Community Service Award -- the highest honor an electric utility can receive from the statewide association.
KISSIMMEE, Fla., October 30, 9:30 am -- Kissimmee Utility Authority's ongoing commitment to community service through utility-sponsored programs and public outreach efforts has been recognized by the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA). FMEA on Tuesday presented to KUA its 2003 Florida Community Service Award -- the highest honor an electric utility can receive from the statewide association.
The award is given annually to utilities whose achievement or sustained performance shows a commitment or the commitment of its employees to enhance the quality of life in a community. This is provided through social, cultural, educational, environmental and economic programs and by providing opportunity for employee involvement.

- FMEA award honors KUA's ongoing response to Kissimmees social, cultural, educational and economic development needs. In the past year, KUA has supported more than 100 community projects and activities that have directly impacted nearly 250,000 individuals.
| Based in Tallahassee, FMEA is a service organization that represents Floridas 32 municipally-owned electric utilities and the more than 2.8 million people these utilities serve.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility serving 61,000 electric, water and Internet customers in five Central Florida counties.
