Midwest Young Artists Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with an Unforgettable Gala Evening of Master Artists and Musicians at Chicago Symphony Center

Midwest Young Artists (MYA, 878 Lyster Road, Highwood, IL 847-926-9898), presents a spectacular evening of art and music at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at Chicago Symphony Center (220 South Michigan Avenue, 312-294-3333). The gala evening begins with a pre-concert dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the Chicago Athletic Association (CAA, 12 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, 312-236-7500), then unto Chicago Symphony Center for a silent art auction in Grainger Ballroom, which includes original works by Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Roy Lichtenstein, as well as contemporary Chicago area artists, followed by a night of glorious music at 7:30 p.m. on Armour Stage.

   MYAs symphony orchestra will perform Beethovens epic Ninth Symphony, with an invitational chorus of 250 divinely-inspired voices from Chicago area high schools including: Whitney Young, Oak Park River Forest, Glenbrook, Wheaton, and Warrenville South joining MYAs senior Chorale. The musical festivities will also include performances by MYAs talented big bands, chamber, jazz ensembles, with a special performance by MYAs Alumni Orchestra playing the Academic Festival Overture by Brahms. The anniversary gala will be the culmination of MYAs first decade and will include many of Chicagos most talented young musicians as performers and audience members. It promises to be a magical evening of musical ecstasy. The gala evening will conclude with a post-concert reception at the CAA.    Midwest Young Artists (878 Lyster Road, Highwood, IL, 847-926-9898), is the leading youth-music ensemble program in the Midwest. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Allan Dennis with one orchestra, MYA has grown into a full-curriculum music school. Presently, MYA has five youth orchestras, more than 50 chamber music ensembles, three vocal ensembles, an all-inclusive jazz program, as well as classes in music theory and history. The program is for serious young musicians and dedicated amateurs. MYA is housed in its own state-of-the-art facility in the town of Fort Sheridan, which provides its students with large rehearsal halls, classrooms, a recording studio, and music library. MYA graduates are accepted at the most selective conservatories in the country.
