A native of Ukraine, Nadia Shpachenko made her debut with the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra at the age thirteen, and has since performed extensively in solo recitals and with orchestras in the United States and Europe. Recently, she gave recitals in venues such as the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles, the Chateau de Modave in Belgium, and at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Ms. Shpachenko has been described as truly inspiring" and a brilliant pianist on the verge of a wonderful career...spellbinding in sensitivity and mastery of technique".
Nadia Shpachenko is currently completing her Doctorate in Musical Arts on a full scholarship at the University of Southern California, from which she earned a Master of Music degree in 1999. Her principal teachers have included such distinguished musicians as John Perry in Los Angeles, Victor Rosenbaum in Boston, Victor Derevianko in Israel, and Sima Shwartz in Ukraine.
Nadia has won top prizes in numerous competitions, including the Wideman International Piano Competition, Grace Welsh International Piano Competition, California International Young Artists Piano Competition, Corpus Christi International Piano Competition, National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition, MTNA Collegiate Piano Competition, SouthEast Symphony Concerto Competition, and the USC Piano Concerto Competition. She has participated in the Music Academy of the West, International Holland Music Sessions, Aspen, Cliburn, Manchester, Orford, Sarasota, Tel - Hai, and Saluzzo International Music Festivals and worked with such musicians as Robert Levin, Jerome Lowenthal and Vladimir Viardo. Her performances have been featured on many radio and television stations in California, Massachusetts, New York, Ukraine, the UK, and Italy and released on CDs under the Vitel label in Europe and the Ullanta label in the U.S.
