Empyrean Management Group's Getting Hired 101 a Success at giving students of Delaware State University an Introduction to the Interview and Hiring Processes of Fortune 500 Companies --

Empyrean Management Group consultants travelled to Delware State University on October 28 to present Getting Hired 101 to members of the Senior Class. Topics covered included everything from resume preparation to behavioral interview techniques employed by many companies in the US today.

Dover, DE (PRWEB) November 4, 2003 -- On Tuesday, October 28, 2003 a team of consultants from Empyrean Management Group presented a seminar called, GETTING HIRED 101 for members of the Senior class of Delaware State University. Del State is a Historically Black University located in Dover.

The seminar focused on areas that most college students entering the workforce have difficulty with, including putting their resume together, basic interview skills, and even went so far as to give fashion dos and donts.

EMGs president and founder, (Mike Kalinsky,) was asked why he and his consultants would take time out to put a free seminar like this on.

Unfortunately, statistics show that people of color have a more difficult time with obtaining work for a variety of reasons which are largely out of their control. It is our teams hope that we can provide the students with the tools and benefit of our experience to help start them off on the right foot when they graduate. Our goal is to get other companies interested in participating in this program to act as sponsors and co-presenters in order to give the students as many informal opportunities to start networking themselves into career opportunities."

Several of the EMG presenters were able to relate anecdotes and experiences from their own careers that touched on some of the concerns expressed by the students. Having graduated from a Historically Black College I think that I was able to relate to the students how important taking advantage of all opportunities presented to you are in jumpstarting your career," said Jermaine Williamson a Business Development manager at EMG.

The information shared with our students was not only timely but will also take them far as they pursue their careers. I would be happy to recommend this program to other organizations and HBCUs," said Mary Merritt, Associate Director of Career Planning and Cooperative Education, Delaware State University.
