Producer/Filmmaker Christmas Rini Launches Mouse Twist Productions!

Award-winning Creative and Documentary Writer/Director/Producer Launches Hot New Production Company for DVD and Home Video "Extras," Docs and Mini-Docs

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 1, 2003 -- The highly praised writer, director and producer of several edgy, popular documentaries, as well as several other short films and 'DVD extras, Christmas Rini now announces the formation of Mouse Twist Productions. Mouse Twist (www.mousetwistproductions.com) is a new production company which will specialize in independent projects of all kinds -- from short films, to documentaries, to features and music videos. The company is especially proficient at creative and producing the "Extras" so popular on DVDs, and has already created several for Artisan Entertainment.

The launch marks the natural next step for Rini, who won high praise for her 2002 documentary short film entitled Bitten," a much-lauded DVD extra" produced by Artisan Entertainment especially for the DVD release of the feature film Novocaine (starring Steve Martin, Laura Dern, and Helena Bonham Carter). Written and directed by Rini, Bitten" provided a fascinating, intelligent, and often surprisingly poignant look into the little-seen world of forensic dentistry.

Founding Mouse Twist is a lifelong dream thats already proved to be rewarding and incredibly challenging," comments Christmas Rini, founder and creator of Mouse Twist Productions. Im looking forward to this opportunity to expand into even larger projects, as well as to continue my work in creative short and long-format documentaries and DVD extras."

Among Mouse Twists current projects are a 40-minute featurette called S7NS," for the Artisan Entertainment and Hype Williams feature film Belly, currently in production now, plus a short, sly tongue-in-cheek featurette (also specially produced for Artisan) on Tanning Tips" for Artisan Entertainments Boat Trip with Cuba Gooding Jr., written and directed by Rini, which also included the creation of a short, humorous introductory segment for the Boat Trip DVDs Main Menu options.

The new creative opportunities offered by the DVD format -- especially the extras and mini-documentaries now routinely packaged with each release -- are a great way to complement a film (as 'Bitten did for Novocaine) with a unique look into the real world behind the fiction.

Rini enjoys investigating and documenting almost any subject, and her work is ample evidence of this -- a rich mix of dark, edgy, subjects with sunny, comedic ones. From darker subjects like forensic dentistry or the little-explored world of mortuary students, to fun, hip lighter features on everything from hip-hop to pop culture, Rinis eye and camera expertly captures the world with a distinct, edgy, and always entertaining point of view. The girls I knew growing up would get silly and excited over Barbies, fashion and girl stuff, while I would get turned on by grip trucks and directors chairs," she comments. Theres just something unbelievably gratifying about seeing your vision come to life."

The company is also currently involved in post-production on a new feature-length documentary entitled Undertaken. Independently produced and directed by Rini, Undertaken examines the lives, challenges, experiences, and studies of mortuary science students.
