STABBED HALF TO DEATH IN A LACY PINK DRESS Apartment presents another frighteningly offbeat spectacle

The battered love child of Diamanda Galas and John waters performs with her band apartment, Chicagos only art punk ensemble, Tuesday, November 18th at the Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee; Chicago, IL. 9pm

Apartment pulls together an extensive range of stylings--from carnival to disco, chamber music to death metal. The sextet is fronted by performance artist Caila Lipovsky, who thrashes about the stage like the battered love child of Diamanda Galas and John Waters, with absurd lyrical rants like Pro choice, Pro life?!/It dont matter!!/Pregnancy is funny but it only makes you fatter!". Apartments cellist, Carmen Li, is a well-known dominatrix and performance artist.

The four women of apartment all went to Shimer College, a tiny Great Books school in Waukegan, Illinois. They formed the first incarnation of the Apartment in February 2000. The band consists of synths, guitar, cello, bass, drums, vocals, and occasional trumpet.

Apartment shares the bill with Dr. Killbot and Our Missiles Are.
