Bill Andrews, Managing Partner of Living Scrapbooks, said The idea came after recently completing a birthday video for a man in South Holland, IL. If you knew James Dockery today, you would know him as an elevator operator. After working with his daughter and viewing his life history in photos we learned Mr. Dockery had a very robust life; distinguished military officer, honored police officer pioneering PAL and childrens programs in his area, and contacts with celebrities such as Mohammad Ali and Count Basie through his active political and civil rights life. He was a great man whose life story has gone unsung".
James life story video impacted the staff at Living Scrapbooks and demonstrated how the frail seniors of today were the giants of yesteryear. The staffs feelings were amplified when they saw Willard Scott of NBC's "Today Show" announce another seniors 100th birthday. We all thought there had to be more to this sweet old man than what meets the eye". At that moment the management team decided to honor those who reach their 100th birthday with a free Living Scrapbook.
Andy Warhol said in the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes". By offering this free service to those whom reach 100 years we can celebrate their 15 minutes of fame with a video based upon photos and music from their life".
