TEMECULA, CALIFORNIA IS THE LOCATION FOR A NEW DETECTIVE MYSTERY SERIES.
Samantha Parker is not a cop or a private investigator. She is a nosy young paralegal with a talent for snooping, so when a handsome stranger walks into her office and gives her twenty-five thousand dollars to have her find out who is following him, she cant resist taking his case, even if she doesnt believe him.
A background check proves that Ronald Gregory has been in trouble with the cops before and this fact has Sam thinking seriously about re-evaluating her decision to help, but when he suddenly disappears, Sam is determined to find out what happened to him. She just never imagined it would lead her to the mob, murder, and into the arms of the crime boss himself.

We all love to read about that familiar place we call home, dont we? Reading about the places we
go and the roads we travel is exciting, and seeing the name of our town in a book is well, very cool.
Temecula resident and author, Maria Pease has given us another reason to be proud to live in Temecula. Her book, Under False Pretense" is the first of five in the Sam Parker Mystery series, and all of them are to be based right here, in Temecula.
UNDER FALSE PRETENSE is about an amateur detective who is honest and clever. Her ambitious nature outweighs her lack of experience. Although she is technically a paralegal, she specializes in research and does a bit of snooping as well. Somehow, she seems to find herself in trouble on a regular basis, due to her intolerance for unfairness and injustice. Basically though, she just gets too engrossed in things she has no business being involved in, and will freely admit, she doesnt know her boundaries.
Samantha Parker is a very likable character. She is fun and witty and has a few quirks that everyone can relate to and laugh at. She absolutely loves Temecula and since she lives and works here, you find yourself visualizing her route as she moves about town."
Maria Pease is also a paralegal but her love of children has her working as a substitute teacher at Paloma Elementary school. I love the kids and working as a substitute teacher allows me time to write as well as teach. Education is so important and making it fun to learn is what I try to do in the classroom. I also try to encourage them to dream and dream big. Anything is possible if you work for it."
