MODVIZ Announces Availability of its
RENDERIZER(TM) Visualization Cluster Software on HP's Intel® Itanium® 2-Based Workstations Running Linux
Modviz's RenderizerTM helps make high-performance, real-time visualization of large datasets and complex models an affordable reality
(PRWEB) November 5, 2003 -- ModViz, Inc., a leader in parallel rendering and visualization cluster software, is pleased to announce the availability of RenderizerTM Visualization Cluster Software on the Itanium 2-based HP Workstation zx2000 and zx6000.
RenderizerTM Visualization Cluster Software from ModViz offers real-time data distribution, synchronization and load balancing capabilities, and helps to enable high-end visualization and
scalable parallel rendering on workstation clusters. RenderizerTM Software Development Kit (SDK) hides the complexity of a cluster and provides developers an efficient way to port single system applications to clusters. No parallelization of existing application code is required.
These platforms are designed to deliver the highest possible performance and capability for technical, and scientific applications in the fields of oil and gas seismic data analysis and
visualization, manufacturing design and engineering simulation, government and defense visual simulation, biomedical, etc.
The HP Workstation zx2000 and zx6000 support Red Hat Linux Advanced Workstation 2.1 for Itanium. HP is the first company to provide Itanium 2-based workstations with the extended capability of 64-bit computing.
The combination of Itanium 2-based HP workstations and ModViz's leading visualization cluster software brings to the market an ideal visualization platform based on industry-standard graphics hardware and software.
Shing Pan, vice president of marketing and business development for ModViz, said, "The support of HP's leading Itanium 2-based
workstations is an important milestone for ModViz as well as the visualization community where large memory bandwidth and addressability are key requirements for handling intensive
computation and visualization that involve large data sets. Users now have one million terabytes of address space to work comparing to 4-GB address ceiling with the IA-32-bit architecture."
Renderizer Visualization Cluster Software is also a key middleware product for HP's Sepia technology. Sepia, developed by HP for the
TriLabs ASC Pathforward Visualization project, scales visualization simply to clusters of up to 128 rendering nodes. Additionally, Renderizer is available on both IA-32 and Itanium platforms,
offering customers a wide variety of solutions to meet their high-end visualization needs.
"The combination of HP's technology and ModViz's viz cluster software is designed to provide industries such as the oil and gas industry the ability to visualize very large data sets on
Intel-based clusters," said Michele Isernia, marketing and business development director of oil and gas industry at HP. "This solution
extends the reach of HP's high-performance computing solutions into the scalable visualization space to complement HP's leading computation cluster solutions. The objective is to provide a complete solution which enables real-time computation, visualization, and decision making for the oil and gas industry."
"Intel is pleased to be working with both HP and ModViz in an effort provide the oil and gas market with high performance visualization solutions," said Dick Bland, worldwide energy industry manager, Intel. "Itanium 2-based workstations make virtual reality solutions affordable and are positioned well to increase the collaboration needed to reduce project cycle times and increase asset yields."
