November 3, 2003
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Its not like a concert, because everyones in the same boat..."

TAMPA, Fla. -- Grammy® Award winning American music legend Delbert McClinton, whose new 2-CD concert album Live (New West Recods) was just released, will again embark on the Delbert McClinton Sandy Beaches Cruise (http://www.delbert.com). Celebrating its tenth year, the Cruise will set sail from the port of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on January 11, 2004, returning on January 18. Live will aptly describe the cruise, which features an all-star cast of recording artists representing the full spectrum of American roots music.

This years lineup includes (in alphabetical order) Al Anderson, Asleep At The Wheel, Renee Austin, Marcia Ball, Bekka Bramlett, T. Graham Brown, Stephen Bruton, Tommy Castro, Bruce Channell, Nick Connolly, Bob DiPiero, Fred Eaglesmith, Jimmy Hall, John Hiatt, Lloyd Jones, Sonny Landreth, Colin Linden, Mary McBride, Gary Nicholson, Jeffrey Steele, Teresa James & the Rhythm Tramps and Wayne Toups & Zydecajun. (A visit to http://www.delbert.com provides links to each of the artists web sites for more information.)

This years cruise departs Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on January 11 on the 5-star Holland America ms Maasdam, and stops at Half Moon Bay, Bahamas; Charlotte Amalie, Virgin Islands; and Road Town, Tortola during its week-long journey. But the real action happens every day and night on the ship, where concerts, jam sessions and songwriter shows play from noon well into the wee hours. Its no wonder that the Cruise enjoys an annual 70 per cent return rate.

We started doing this just to have fun and before you know it, ten years have gone by. This is our big anniversary, and its going to rock!" says McClinton, the two-time Grammy® Award winner known for his hits like Giving It Up For Your Love" and Sandy Beaches," from which the cruise derives its name. The eclectic musical mix spotlights blues, rocknroll, R&B, country, Americana, Cajun and zydeco music, some of Nashvilles most prolific singer/songwriters, bluegrass and more.\

Everybodys very excited this year -- the artists, the cruisers, everyone -- and I know its going to be our biggest party yet," says Wendy Goldstein, McClintons wife and manager, and a partner in Entertainment Travel, Ltd., the company that promotes the cruise.

Its not like going to a concert, because everyones in the same boat," adds McClinton.

New and lasting friendships are forged among the travelers, and the musicians enjoy collaborations and cross-pollination that result in new songs and associations that follow them off the ship into their recordings, shows and careers. Its an opportunity for fans to get to know the musical talents as people rather than onstage stars, and enjoy the artists doing what they love -- making great music -- for the sheer joy of creating it.

The end result is a rare and memorable vacation and musical experience that can only be found on the Delbert McClinton Sandy Beaches Cruise.

ABOUT DELBERT McCLINTON

The New York Times called Delbert McClinton, the quintessential Texas roadhouse rocker, applying his well-traveled rasp to songs from the hard-loving intersections of blues, country and soul." Fellow musician Bonnie Raitt added, "Delbert just keeps getting better. Always one of my favorite singers, he's writing and singing at the top of his game -- with all the grit, grease and tenderness that comes from a lifetime of experience. He's digging the trench for the rest of us." Live is his third album for New West, following the successful and critically acclaimed Nothing Personal (winner of the Grammy Award for Best Blues Album in 2001) and Room To Breathe (Grammy nominated in 2002.) Both albums attained the #1 position on Billboards Blues Album chart, and R&Rs Americana Airplay Chart. Within the past three years, Delbert has been featured on Saturday Night Live, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan OBrien and NPRs Weekend Edition."
