DOG LOVERS! A dog park in Miami for you and your pets!

There is an off-leash dog park being proposed for construction in the Village of Palmetto Bay (Miami), Florida. It will be 3-5 acres within a currently undeveloped 17-acre park and is proposed to have an agility course, wading pools, a giant sandbox, a "time-out area," and free run areas for both large and small dogs.

It will be safe and sanitary, and will have a double-gated entrance (possibly with electronic card access), poop scooper bag dispensers, covered trash cans, hopefully a decomposed granite groundcover and drainage (rather than grass that often turns to mud), and covered shade areas and benches, among other things. It will be one of only 4 legal off-leash parks in Miami. There are 600 dog parks around the country (and around the world!), with more being created constantly. Because of the intensive research done in order to make sure that the Palmetto Bay Dog Park is safe, sanitary, appealing, and enjoyable, the Palmetto Bay Dog Owners Group (PB-DOG) committee has recently been asked to advise a group in Miami, Florida and one in Michigan(!) about creating off-leash parks in their areas. Dog parks benefit pets, pet owners, and the surrounding area (see the Frequently Asked Questions on our website for details), and we want to be a cutting-edge community that serves the needs of many.
