Since relocating from New York City in 2001, Allyn Scura Eyewear has purchased the remaining inventory of dead stock" prescription eyeglass frames from West Coast- and Midwest-based optical distributors. This is the best of both worlds for retro fashion aficionados," says Allyn Scura, who has an eye for the past and often reflects this sensibility in her own designs. Now, people who love a vintage look can get the real thing -- 30- to 130-year old frames that have never been used -- without sifting through estates of the deceased at the local thrift shop. Any vintage eyeglass frame from Ms. Scuras collection can be fitted with prescription, sunglass or reading lenses from a local optical shop. Frames are guaranteed for one year against defect under normal usage.
