fSONA Communications Appoints Telecom Industry Veteran to Board of Directors

fSONA Communications, a leader in free space optical wireless solutions, today announced that Fares Salloum has joined the companys Board of Directors. Salloum brings to fSONA a wealth of telecom experience gained through his tenure at Verizon/GTE.

Vancouver, Canada -- November 6, 2003 - fSONA Communications, a leader in free space optical wireless solutions, today announced that Fares Salloum has joined the companys Board of Directors. Salloum brings to fSONA a wealth of telecom experience gained through his tenure at Verizon/GTE.

Fares has worked closely with many leading international telecom carriers, particularly those in the Americas. His knowledge of these markets will be a great benefit to fSONA as he, along with the other board members, guides fSONA towards our goal of establishing fSONA as the leading FSO supplier to carrier markets worldwide," said Theresa Carbonneau, President and CEO of fSONA Fares is an excellent addition to the fSONA team and were all very pleased to welcome him."

Previously Salloum held the position of President-International, The Americas at Verizon Communications where he was responsible for the wireless and wireline operations in the Americas and related business development. Prior to that he served 3 years as Senior Vice President-International operations for GTE Corporation where he was responsible for investments in The Americas and Asia. Salloums career includes 24 years with BC Telecom, one of two GTE telephone operations in Canada.

Salloum served on the boards of directors of TELUS in Canada; IUSACELL in Mexico; CANTV in Venezuela; PRTC in Puerto Rico; CODETEL in the Dominican Republic; and the Verizon Foundation.

Salloum holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
