Klatu Enhances eCom® ECommerce Engine To Support Manufacturer Warranty, Service and Support Plans

(PRWEB) November 8, 2003 --Manufacturers sell service and support plans to cover maintenance requirements during a hardware product's lifespan. CarePaq services offered by Hewlett Packard and Compaq, and other similar manufacturer and third party warranty plans are supported internationally through a manufacturer's dealer service network. These plans are widely available within the US and are becoming increasingly available internationally. The plans vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and their sales are expanding internationally as manufacturers develop support partnerships within the region's countries.
With the new enhancements, a reseller can sell manufacturer service and support plans as a part of their existing distributor catalog, add their own service and support (or other third party plans) to their own catalog, and associate them with any product. A reseller's e-store will properly calculate duties and other landed costs on imported products, correctly excluding service sales.
Consumers purchase these plans along with the product and afterwards to extend a product's warranty coverage. Resellers and VARs purchase these service and support licenses directly from the manufacturers or through their authorized distributors. Some resellers also offer third-party support plans and create their own independent service and support plans.
Klatu's eCom® ECommerce Engine also contains an association module that permits a reseller to associate any product with any other product for the purpose of cross-selling services, options and peripherals.
