Reaching Out to Single Mothers
Jonesboro, GA -- November 6, 2003 - Did you know that the number of single mothers increased from three million to 10 million between 1970 and 2000, and that one in two children will live in a single-parent family at some point in childhood.
Making Ends Meet, (www.making-ends-meet.org) is one of the few, if not the only first online organization exclusively dedicated to helping single mothers with emergency assistance nationwide.
Making Ends Meet intends to change the way single mothers can search and access help and meet their financial needs." says Jacqueline Washington, Co-Founder of Making Ends Meet. The site offers one centralized stop on the Internet containing a place for single mothers to apply for assistance.
Making Ends Meet provides mini-grants of $300-$800 to low-moderate income single mothers to assist with emergency medical expenses, groceries, extra-curricular activities for children, Gas, Daycare-After school expenses, and car repairs etc.
We also give our donors a choice to choose where they would like their donation to go towards. Donors can choose any emergency assistance fund" says Washington. We are here to help single mothers become self-sufficient because it not easy for most on one income."
Making Ends Meet asked and encouraged parents that are fortunate enough to contribute $5 so that they can raise as much as $5 million to give grants to single mothers in need of emergency assistance nationwide.
