Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles To Celebrate 100th

Disadvantage Families Receive A Fresh Start At 100th Home Dedication Ceremony

Los Angeles CA (PRWEB) November 9, 2003 -- In the aftermath of the devastating fires that has left thousands of people without homes, hope is still shining brightly for the lives of three disadvantaged families who will realize their dreams of homeownership -- with the generous support of Habitat for Humanity-Los Angeles (HFHLA).

On Saturday, November 15, 2003, more than 200 national and international Habitat delegates, corporate sponsors, community residents, volunteers and families will be on hand to celebrate and honor the families of Habitat for Humanity-Los Angeles, 100th home construction with a House Dedication Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at 3:30pm at the nearly completed site: 1623 East Century Blvd in Los Angeles and will include dedications of the 99th and 101st Habitat built homes on the same land; as part of the past, present & future of HFHLA."

Habitat for Humanity-Los Angeles is the leading affordable housing homebuilder in Los Angeles county, for very low-income families and celebrates 12 years of constructing and/or rehabilitating homes throughout Los Angeles and is changing the lives of working families who previously lived below the poverty level in sub-standard or overcrowded housing.

The families, who will officially receive the keys to their new homes at the ceremony, are: the Arauz Family (100th homeowner) -- a single mother of three boys who previously lived in a one bedroom apartment, the Guzman Family (99th homeowner) -- a working family who previously lived with no heating for 10 years; and the Ramos Family (101st homeowner) -- a working class family of six. Each family will now live in spacious 900 - 1,100 square foot, two-story homes with two to four bedrooms they personally helped build along with several hundred volunteers. Union Bank of California and Home Depot, corporate donors of the Habitat 100th
home, has helped families emerge from such substandard living conditions as broken plumbing, rodent infestation, non-working heating and even homelessness.
