TrackIR2 Brings New Levels of Realism to PC Gaming, Including Flight Simulation

CORVALLIS, Ore.--November 7, 2003--NaturalPoint, the industry leader in head tracking game control systems, announces its next generation game controller, the TrackIR2. With the award-winning TrackIR2 head tracking system, desktop gamers can use natural head motion to look around their virtual environment without ever looking away from the screen, freeing up precious joystick buttons and mouse axes for other uses.

The TrackIR2, at a blazingly fast 100 frames per second, has almost twice the frame rate and 4 times the data throughput of the previous model, the TrackIR. This means greater accuracy and smoother movement in-game, and makes the TrackIR2 more compatible with the high refresh rates and resolutions of state-of-the-art computer monitors.

Jim Richardson, TrackIR2s creator says, Now, with its blistering speed and razor-sharp accuracy, TrackIR2 can bring new levels of immersion and excitement to a much wider variety of titles, including driving and flight simulator titles." Several more titles have added immersion to their virtual cockpits; Microsoft® Flight Simulator 2004 now includes direct support for TrackIR2! The much anticipated release of Lock On: Modern Air Combat and Falcon 4 will include full TrackIR Enhanced support.

TrackIR2s new features include:
•   Full USB hot plug capability
•   USB suspend mode compatible
•   New image display system with colored objects
•   Cool new case
•   Upgradeable system for future enhancements (such as multi-TrackIR displays)

Improvements over the current generation system include:
•   High speed digital imager (100 FP/S) a full 66% increase
•   4X image data throughput
•   Improved smoothing algorithm
•   Increased background/sunlight image tolerance
•   Improved installation procedure
