LIBRADOS JOINS OBJECTWEB CONSORTIUM AND ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR JONAS

Librados Continues Support for Open Source with ObjectWebs JOnAS Application Server to Further Drive the Prohibitive Costs out of the Application Integration Marketplace.

SAN RAMON, Calif. and GRENOBLE, FRANCE (PRWEB) November 10, 2003 -Librados Inc., a leading provider of J2EE-standards based application integration software, recently joined ObjectWeb, an international not-for-profit consortium focused on open-source middleware. As a corporate member of the consortium, Librados will develop privileged relations with the members of the ObjectWeb community, starting with the JOnAS team.

Librados is planning to start distributing the JOnAS J2EE application server shortly. Librados has already ported all of its technology to work out-of-the box with JOnAS. The first customer deployments are expected before the end of the year.

Using the Librados Enterprise Integration Component Server (EICS) and family of pre-built JCA Adapters, Java developers can now perform simple or complex application integration quickly and easily from JOnAS. Librados is driving down the cost of application integration by offering either royalty-free source code to independent software vendors (ISVs) or extremely low-cost software to customers with its pure J2EE product offering on JOnAS.

Adoption of open-source J2EE application servers is gaining traction in the corporate world. Historically, it was the grassroots support of the developer community that propelled open-source J2EE into IT departments but rarely into a production environment. This is changing. In the current economic environment IT executives are taking a close look at free, open source J2EE application servers, where the standard allows them to move applications from one Java application server to another, with little modification.

JOnAS is a clean-room implementation of the J2EE specifications delivered under the Lesser GNU Public License (LGPL). Librados adds enterprise class functionality to the JOnAS application server. This will help reduce costs associated with application integration and make J2EE more accessible to a wider range of organizations.
