DR. ELVIS PRESLEY ?

Music Plays Major Role in One Mans Recovery.

"Serenity, Courage and Wisdom" has become James Bradley's mantra. After suffering from a stroke at the age of eighteen and enduring the hardships of recovery, he wanted to be an inspiration for those thinking of giving up. James recalls his experiences in his new book "Elvis Was My Speech Therapist"

In 1959, James had a brain hemorrage during a near-fatal car accident. He also suffered paralysis on the right side of his body while in a coma for 29 days. The devastating crash left him unable to speak, walk, feed and clothe himself, he was virtually an infant in an eighteen-year old body.

His family was so creative in their quest to find methods of therapy, in 1959 there was no physical therapy. Still unable to speak, Bradley religiously listened to Elvis records and what began as unintelligible sounds later became recognizable words.

Chronicaling a 44 year period, "Elvis Was My Speech Therapist" is a very personal story of how James struggled to defy the odds and overcome his disabilities. He shares his feelings, his methods of recovery and his successes and triumphs.

AS A GUEST, BRADLEY WILL DISCUSS:

  • His experiences and challenges as a stroke victim
  •
  • The importance of family and friends while overcoming hardships
  •
  • The importance of belief in recovery
  •
  • How music can be used as speech therapy

James is currently a motivational speaker and shares his inspiring story with Schools, Churches, Radio and TV stations and Hospitals.

"James showed that through attitude, determination and the Grace of God, anyone can overcome obstacles. His faith is evident and shines through to others. I was impressed by his courage and determination."
