Modern Rock Band on the Rise has More Baggage Than Their Debut Album
Native NYC Alt/Modern rock band, Cynix, has all the makings of a VH1's "Behind the Music", even before the spread of their unique sound, which is catching on like wildfire as the band releases the anticipated debut album, "Dirty Laundry" as they prepare to take on the West Coast.
Cynix, a modern rockpop/electronic band who you will be hearing about sooner than later is finally releasing what its growing number of fans have been anticipating for the last year: the debut album, ironically entitled "Dirty Laundry", will be released by the group's label (Playground Records).
The trio has had quite a trip in the last year, breaking away from their former group which saw headlines deriving from numerous media outlets including MTV's Band Warfare Nation, the International John Lennon Songwriting Competition, and Ernie Ball's East Coast Battle of the Bands. After paying what anyone would deem "their dues", the group will be relocating from their native NYC, where they saw great local success in the ever-growing indie-rock scene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to San Francisco, California, where the group hopes to get a fresh start.
After all the death threats, injuries, thefts, and overall bad luck the group has had over the past year, Cynix has released "Dirty Laundry". The debut album, which amazingly appeals both to the mainstream as well as the group's coveted underground fans, is taking the listening public by storm. The album takes music back to basics while honing in on advanced music technology, complete with blow your mind" drum programming, jazz-influenced vocals, hook-infested bass, kicking guitar and piano riffs, slamming live drums, and sexy, honest, raw lyrics. Although Cynixs sound is highly unique, fans of Portishead, Coldplay, Tori Amos, Garbage, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and even Linkin Park will find themselves falling for the sexy group who is not afraid to take the music to the next level.
Cynix's music has come into the public eye as fast as any other pioneer in music industry history. Despite the truly unique sound of Cynix's hard-hitting grooves, it gives the alternative music public what they have been craving: a change that can still move audiences like nothing else.
A band who is leading the trend in self-produced music, Cynix's album did not have the backing of a major label which poured millions into its release. The Cynix team collaborated in the creation of the amazingly sexy music, production and arrangement of the album and the hard-core marketing as well.
Seeking the financial aid of a major label was never a consideration for the notorious threesome, at least for this album. Mark Paradiso, the guitarist/keyboardist/co-producer of Cynix, had a few words on the subject: "We wanted to get to a point where we had developed ourselves as musicians and artists, and could come to the table prepared to hold our own." With minimal funding from ticket sales and a determination to be heard, the group pushed ahead. The little vixen vocalist/co-producer of Cynix, Karen Xerri, proclaimed at their last highly-publicized show in Brooklyn on their move to expand, "We wanted to create a new sound...we wanted to create from our hearts and minds...We wanted the music to be real, not a media conglomerate's idea of what it wants the public to hear. We gave you what was in us and now we want to share it with the world...
